Smart simplicity: Designing and installing a plug-and-play London workspace

About the project

For this transformative project, the requirement was for a contemporary, clean exposed services installation in an open plan arrangement. Detailed coordination of services was key to getting the final result to look right. The toilets and shower facilities were also completely refurbished and new lighting installed in the core areas to complete this prestigious office development.

The key challenge was to provide a contemporary M&E installation that embraced the client’s requirement for a simple but smart ‘plug and play’ Cat A+ space. This was to be inclusive of some of the qualities befitting progressive workspaces, with meeting rooms and informal breakout spaces being incorporated into the design. Exposed services mean that nothing can be left to chance and require a very high degree of coordination through all services.

Solutions

The design phase of this project was given emphasis to ensure the flawless coordination of all services.

Fully exposed galvanised containment systems were installed for supporting cabling and pipework.

Contemporary suspended LED lighting, fed via a galvanised conduit, was utilised in the office area. Galvanised skirting trunking was installed around the perimeter to complement the industrial look.

Air conditioning cassette units were suspended and left fully exposed.

The toilet and shower areas were completely refitted to bring them up to modern standards and to compliment the overall theme.
