A leading laboratory fit for future discoveries

About the project

Fitting the mechanical services for labs into an existing office building is always complicated, as the increased requirements create a space restraint. Integra took on the responsibility of project coordination to ensure that all services fitted seamlessly within the space. To comply with the landlord's carbon commitments, Integra had to ensure that all services were suitable for a future plant change for the wider building, without a negative impact on performance.

The building was lab-enabled with an AHU on the floor to provide the additional air volume required. An additional challenge presented by this project was the requirement to install ductwork through castellated beams in the ceiling void.

In addition to the building's functional requirements, Integra worked alongside both a client and contractor architect to ensure that the services met the high aesthetic expectations the client had for this project. As with all laboratory projects, an extensive commissioning programme was required, and competently delivered by our specialists.

Solutions

A large degree of work went into this project prior to commencing on site. From the outset, Integra carried out detailed coordination and clash detection, including working alongside the architects and other contractors to ensure a seamless installation. Laboratory projects nearly always demand close attention to details, which require close and comprehensive management from Integra's on-site teams.
